- Stay at least two nights in Leh first to let your body adjust to the altitude and cut down on headache headaches and nausea.
- The road from Nubra to Pangong via Shyok Valley is very rough meaning motion sickness is real so take it slow.
- Keeping stops at Khardung La short really helps reduce altitude effects and keeps you moving comfortably.
- Misty Hills Cabins in Hunder was clean cozy and the food was surprisingly good compared to other basic places.
- If you want fewer crowds skip Hunder’s sand dunes area it gets busy Turtuk has more peace if staff allow adjusting stays.
- Airbnbs in Leh can promise a lot but may disappoint book hotels instead for reliability and comfort.
- Carry oxygen cylinders or rent locally especially with kids some used them after the pass to feel better.
- The views at Pangong in early morning are magical with changing shades if you sit by the lake quietly for a while.
