From Passprt Community
- Start with two nights in Leh to acclimatise gently and avoid altitude sickness before heading to Nubra.
- Drive via Khardung La is scenic but stop for too long at the pass and you might feel dizzy or get AMS symptoms.
- Stay in Nubra at a cosy cabin with views to relax rather than rushing between spots.
- Turtuk is small and peaceful and well worth a day trip or overnight if you want real Balti village ambience.
- The Shyok River route from Nubra to Pangong is adventurous and beautiful but gets bumpy slow and can make some feel nauseous.
- Pangong Lake is stunning with changing blues but it is very cold and windy so carry warm clothes even in summer.
- Merak area at Pangong tends to be quieter than Spangmik so consider staying there if you wish to avoid crowds.
- Early starts help dodge traffic jams and get to scenic spots before they get busy.
