From Passprt Community

  • The trail is steeper and rougher than it sounds, so go slow and steady, especially on loose gravel sections.
  • You must hire a registered guide, as locals enforce this firmly and it helps avoid awkward confrontations.
  • If you’re not very fit, you might consider a dirt-bike pickup near the top, if allowed by staff time limits.
  • Start your journey around 3 AM to reach the summit before sunrise and avoid crowding at the peak.
  • Bring your own headlamp and good shoes, as tour-provided ones sometimes fail or feel slippery.
  • Layer up well and carry a spare shirt or blanket to stay warm during the chilly wait at the top.
  • Be cautious at coffee plantation stops, as some spots push overpriced items disguised as souvenirs.
  • Weekday treks give you more breathing room at the summit compared to weekends, when it’s bustling with tourists.
